About Send Rakhi Online — The Story Behind 13 Years of Rakhi Delivery
Send Rakhi Online is a Jaipur-based Rakhi delivery business founded in 2013 by two brothers, Shankar and Rajesh. In 13 years we have fulfilled over 4 lakh orders and delivered Rakhi to brothers across 100+ countries worldwide. This is our story — who we are, how we work, and what we believe in.
Where It All Began
In 2012, two brothers from Jaipur sat down with an idea that was equal parts personal and practical.
Shankar, the elder of the two, had spent years working as a web and software developer for an e-commerce company. He understood how online businesses worked from the inside — the technology, the logistics, the customer journey. But over time he noticed something that went beyond the technical: he was drawn to the human side of the operation. Handling customers, processing orders, understanding what people actually needed when they came to a website looking for something meaningful. He realised that the skills he had spent years building could be used to build something of his own.
Rajesh, his brother, brought a different kind of rigour — an academic foundation and the organisational thinking that complements a builder's instincts.
Together, they decided to build something that combined what they knew with something they genuinely believed in — a reliable, carefully run platform that would let sisters anywhere in the world send Rakhi to their brothers, no matter how far apart they were.
Send Rakhi Online launched in 2013. What began as two brothers with a clear vision and a deep understanding of what their customers needed has grown, over 13 years, into something neither of them could have fully imagined at the start.
Thirteen Years, Four Lakh Orders, One Hundred Countries
The numbers tell part of the story.
Over 4 lakh orders fulfilled. Rakhi delivered to brothers in more than 100 countries — from the USA, UK, Canada and Australia to destinations that most people would not immediately associate with an Indian festival. A customer database built entirely on trust, on repeat orders, on sisters who came back year after year because the Rakhi arrived on time and the experience felt right.
But the number that means the most to us is from 2020.
The year of the COVID pandemic was, by any measure, the hardest year for families separated by distance. Borders closed. Flights stopped. The physical distance between sisters in India and brothers abroad became something more absolute than it had ever been before. And in that year — the year when it mattered most — we fulfilled our highest ever number of orders.
Sisters who could not visit. Brothers who could not come home. Families who had no way of being together for Raksha Bandhan except through a package that crossed an ocean and a thread tied on a video call. We were trusted with that. We did not take it lightly then, and we do not take it lightly now.
The People Behind Every Order
Send Rakhi Online is run by a core team of five full-time people, each responsible for a specific part of what makes an order feel right when it arrives.
Product research and sourcing. Design and development. Photography — because what you see on the website should look exactly like what arrives at the door. Product listing and quality checking. And order processing — the part of the operation that most customers never see but feel entirely when their Rakhi arrives intact, on time, exactly as chosen.
During festival season, our team grows. Additional staff join us specifically for Raksha Bandhan to make sure that a surge in orders never becomes a reason for a drop in quality or a delay in dispatch. Every order, whether it is one of hundreds placed on the same day or a single order placed at 11 PM, gets the same attention.
Shankar continues to lead the technical and operational side of the business. Rajesh oversees the broader management and strategy. After 13 years, the two brothers who started this are still the two people most invested in making sure it runs the way it should.
Where Our Products Come From
We source our Rakhis and gifts from craftsmen and manufacturers across India — Jaipur, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Alwar, Delhi and beyond. Each source brings something different: Jaipur's craft tradition in silver and meenakari, Kolkata's textile artisans, the specialist manufacturers in other cities who make specific product categories better than anyone else.
Our Rakhi Pooja Thalis are crafted in-house. Every thali is assembled by our own team — the Rakhi, the roli, the chawal, the diya, the sweets — put together with the care of something made specifically for the ceremony it is meant to serve, not mass-produced and warehoused. When a sister orders a Pooja Thali from us for her brother abroad, she is not receiving a generic product. She is receiving something our team put together.
We are not a marketplace. Every product on this website has been selected, sourced, checked, and photographed by us. What you see is what your brother receives.
What We Have Learned About International Delivery
Thirteen years of delivering Rakhi internationally has taught us things that no manual could have. We want to share some of that knowledge honestly, because informed customers have better experiences.
On customs: Most Rakhi and gift items — dry fruits, chocolates, silver Rakhis, handicrafts, wallets, Pooja Thalis — clear international customs without issue in the vast majority of countries. However, roli in powder form can be flagged at customs in certain countries as an unidentified powder substance. For this reason, we do not include loose roli powder in international Pooja Thali orders. We are aware that this is something customers occasionally notice and we want to be transparent about why. The rest of the thali — the Rakhi, the diya, the sweets, the thali itself — travels without issue.
On timing: The single most consistent finding from 13 years of international delivery is that sisters who order early have better experiences than sisters who order late. Not because late orders fail — they usually do not — but because early orders have room for the unexpected. We recommend ordering at least 10 to 14 days before Raksha Bandhan for international delivery. Our guaranteed cut-off for 2026 is 22 August at 4:00 PM IST.
On what travels well: Dry fruits, chocolates, handicrafts, silver Rakhis, wallets, belts, and Pooja Thalis all travel reliably to most international destinations. Fresh or moisture-heavy sweets can occasionally face customs restrictions in countries like Australia and New Zealand — dry-based sweets like Kaju Katli travel better for these destinations.

Our Promise to You
We started Send Rakhi Online because we believed sisters should be able to send something real to their brothers — regardless of where in the world either of them happens to be. That belief has not changed in 13 years. It has only become more certain.
Every order we process is someone's Raksha Bandhan. Every package we dispatch is a sister's way of saying: I am thinking of you, I am proud of you, and the distance between us does not change what you mean to me.
We do not take that lightly. We never have.
If you have a question before ordering, our team is available on WhatsApp and live chat. If something goes wrong with your order, reach out immediately — the sooner you contact us, the more we can do. And if your experience with us was a good one, we hope to see you again next Raksha Bandhan.
